Medtronic picks San Antonio for diabetes-unit expansion - Kansas City Business Journal:

Two sites in the Kansas City area, includin the headquarters in Lenexa, had been in contentiomn for the expansion, which is expected to add 1,4090 jobs to the San Antonio area durinva five-year period. The announcement of Medtronic’s site selectioh took place at the Overlook at the Rim office building in San where Medtronic willoccupy 150,00o square feet. Minneapolis-based Medtronic’s diabetes which makes insulin pumps, glucoswe monitoring devices and diabetes-management software, is one of Medtronic’ds fastest-growing businesses. The unit already employs 1,500 people in Northridge, Calif.

On March 9, Medtronic officials confirmefd that only the Kansas City and San Antonio areasd remained in the running for the expansion aftera nine-montyh site search that covered all 50 states. Applebee’s celebrated the opening of the buildingg slightly more than ayear ago. But the restaurant chain’s parent company, (NYSE: DIN) of Glendale, recently listed the entire buildingfor sublease.
It providew support for about 480 company-owned stores, and Applebee’s plan to becomed a 98 percent franchised system will diminis its need forthe building.
