Bev Perdue. “Wse were forced to take this unfortunate actioj in anticipation of actual enactment because of uncertainties surroundingthe legislation’sw effective date,” the message Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) collect salezs tax in only a few states. But North Carolina is trying to bridger a budget gap of morethan $4 billion.
A provisioh in the budget would allowa “click-through allowing the state to tax retailersx that do not have a physical presence in North Carolins but that use affiliates that do have a physicalk presence in the state. Amazohn has challenged a similar provisiob in NewYork state. Amazon added in its message that if Northn Carolina rescindsthe tax, the company would reopen the associates program in North Carolina.
